About

This year, October 4th and 5th will mark our community’s 34th annual Shelter Sunday—an effort which began in Pulaski park with the initial goal to inspire every household in the Northampton area to contribute at least $1 to support essential service in the community.

Today, Shelter Sunday is still raising crucial funds for two local agencies serving people who are serving those experiencing housing and food insecurity in Northampton: Hampshire Support Alliance and Manna Community Kitchen.

When we began Shelter Sunday, we went door to door. We also had collection sites at various businesses. And from the start, we have relied on the generous support of our sponsors, community members, and local businesses. In previous years, the focus of this day was a handful of volunteers walking around their neighborhoods and knocking on doors. This year you’ll receive a mailing instead of a visit. We invite you to send in your contribution or use the convenient online donation platform. Your participation will help us reach our goal of $25,000.

Homelessness in our community continues to grow at an unprecedented rate. We need your help now, more than ever.

We invite you to carry this tradition forward by joining us in the spirit of Community in Unity. Your gift—no matter the size—helps ensure that individuals and families in Northampton have access to food, shelter, and support when they need it most. Thank you for being part of this shared effort to care for our neighbors and strengthen the fabric of our community.
